Polyisoprene (Isoprene)
Polyisoprene rubber (with cis 1,4 content) is a synthetic, latex free rubber first produced in 1954 and is the synthetic equivalent to natural rubber.
Its properties are similar to natural rubber, and is hypoallergenic, making it an excellent material for the medical industry as a latex-free alternative to natural rubber. Temperature range (dry heat) is approximately -30°C – 100°C.
Advantages
Good mechanical stability
Excellent rebound elasticity (snap)
Low modulus (soft)
High elongation and tensile strength
Hypoallergenic (no protein)
High consistency and purity
Excellent transparency, good for vibrant colours
Limitations
Low shore hardness
